In Case of Emergency

If you have a smart phone, either Apple or Android, it is a good idea to configure emergency contacts and medical information.

In an emergency situation, first responders, whether that be emergency services, a Group Organiser or a concerned member of public, can call your emergency contact without unlocking the phone.

Paramedics can view the medical information you have chosen to share which will enable them to decide on right action in the circumstances.

It's not just in an emergency that this feature is useful. One of our u3a members had been in London and returned by train. Once in the car, there came the awful realisation that the phone was missing.

A while later, the member's spouse received a call from an unknown number. It turned out a member of the public had found the phone and used to the ICE information to call and advise the phone had been handed in to the station office where it could be collected.
