Ver-Colne Valley U3A is a self-help organisation run entirely by its members who organise a very wide range of activities. Currently, there are 50 Groups covering arts and crafts, history, languages, sports and much more. Members also organise holidays, social events, outings and theatre trips.
We have a general meeting on the third Thursday of each month at Greenwood Park Community Centre. These meetings are an opportunity to meet fellow members, catch up on the latest news. browse the Groups, day and Theatre trips and visit our book, card and raffle stalls.
We have a varied programme of talks given by invited speakers - details are published in the Newsletter. Members attending the talks are encouraged to give feedback to the Speaker Secretary who organises the talks, or to any member of the Executive Committee. Suggestions for future speakers - including U3A members who would be interested in giving a talk on their 'specialist subject' - are also very welcome.
We publish our monthly VCV newsletter. Members can submit contributions - articles on group activities, creative writing, poetry, musings on life in general -to Newsletter Editor the deadline is published in the previous month’s edition. Unfortunately, the Contact Us tab does not facilitate adding attachments. If the article has been created in a document such as Word, it will need to be submitted using your own email service to newsletter@ver-colnevalleyu3a.org.uk
Recent Newsletters can be viewed from the Newsletter Tab above.
We strongly recommend that members who have a smart phone, configure the phone so emergency contacts can be called without unlocking the phone. Detailed instructions can be found on the ICE Phone Config page.
